This service is available only in Mankato, Minn. Gold Cross Plus is a cost-effective, critical-care transport option when out-of-hospital time is not critical to the patient's outcome. The service combines the medical skill, judgment and specialized training of local critical-care nurses and Gold Cross paramedics with the sophisticated life support equipment previously only available by air medical transportation. This service is also an appropriate option when air service is unavailable. Medical ExpertiseA critical-care nurse and a paramedic with advanced critical-care training staff Gold Cross Plus. The Gold Cross Plus nurses work in the local hospital emergency room or intensive-care unit and are partnered with a Mankato Gold Cross paramedic. A Mayo Clinic emergency medicine specialist oversees Gold Cross Plus and works to implement patient care protocols and monitor the quality of care. A medical director ensures close cooperation with local health care facilities. |
